Garrad Hassan, the worldwide renewable energy consultancy recently acted as Doughty Hanson’s Technical Advisor in its purchase of Svendborg Brakes for €460 million.
Garrad Hassan’s depth of knowledge and expertise in the wind industry provided significant strategic and commercial input into the due diligence process that supported the deal. The process was managed out of the consultancy’s Bristol office and utilised local staff in Hinnerup in Denmark, just a few miles from Svendborg’s headquarters.
Andrew Garrad, CEO of the GH Group, commented
“The wind industry is still primarily an assembly rather than a manufacturing business and there are therefore key component suppliers – Svendborg is one. We were very pleased to be able to support Doughty Hanson’s successful bid for this market leading company, particularly since we also acted in the same way in their purchase of LM Glasfiber some years ago. We have been increasingly involved in M and A activity over the past couple of years – we advised on transactions valued at €11,000,000,000 in 2007 alone. ”
Jan Amethier, Senior Principal at Doughty Hanson added:
"Our team again greatly benefited from Garrad Hassan's deep knowledge of the wind industry. While we, of course, already have strong internal sector expertise thanks to our LM Glasfiber investment, Garrad Hassan added significant insights specific to Svendborg Brakes' business and technology."
