Acciona Invests US $479M in US Wind Market

Spanish wind technology firm Acciona has announced plans to install two wind farms in the United States. The two projects, which are located in Illinois and Oklahoma will have a combined installed capacity of 223.5 megawatts (MW).

The projects are under construction and are due to be completed by the end of the year.
Requiring a €366 million [US $479 million] investment, the projects are under construction and are due to be completed by the end of the year. A total of 149 Acciona wind turbines will be sited at Red Hills, a 123 MW in Oklahoma and EcoGrove I, a 100.5 MW project in Illinois. Both projects are fully owned by Acciona.

The Red Hills facility represents an investment of approximately US $267 million and will use 82 AW-1500 turbines. The EcoGrove I wind park will use 67 AW-1500 turbines and represents an approximate investment of US $228 million.
